The Mountains & Coastline of Northern Spain
18-25 April
(8 days, 7 nights. 7 spaces)

The northern coastline of Spain in Asturias and Cantabria is rightfully gaining a reputation for stunning landscape photography. The rocky coast, quaint villages, superb beaches & island churches are breathtaking. Only a short drive inland & we are quickly up into the mountains of the Picos de Europa, sharp jagged peaks often likened to the Dolomites - but not as well known. This trip will start and finish in Bilbao, where we will photograph the Guggenheim museum, then we will travel along the coast to the unique church of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe (a Game Of Thrones location) perched on its island plus the dramatic sea stacks on the beach, the half built bridge that juts out over the sea at Mioňo - perfect for moody atmospheric shots. Then we will move up coast to Santander - a super cathedral and lighthouse (a Golden Hour location), and on into Cantabria and the jagged otherworldly sea arch at Campiecho. Then we switch focus to the mountains and the Picos de Europa. We will travel up high via the cable car to photograph the central massif with its sheer rock faces & lunar rock landscape. We will drive to Espinama and visit the deserted villages high up in the mountains such as Casielles with its 360 view of the top of the Picos. This area of Spain & the Basque country is of course not only known for its spectacular landscape, but also for its delicious food and wine. We will make sure to benefit from this too! A trip to discover a delightful but untouched, and largely unknown, area of Spain.
