The Lofoten Islands

14-22 March

(9 days, 8 nights. max 7 guests)

Red fishermen huts in village of Hamnoy, Lofoten, Norway. On Quest Photography trip

The Lofoten Islands have become one of the most iconic locations for landscape photography in the world, and justifiably so. The landscape is dramatic, haunting & stunningly beautiful. Fjords with towering cliffs plunging into the dark seas. This will be a 2 base trip: we will stay in Leknes which gives us access to some of the most incredible beaches of Uttakleiv with its Devil Eye, Flakstad, Haukstad & Unstad (the latter a surfer's paradise, even in winter). Weather permitting, we will take a boat to see sea eagles hunting over the water - the largest population in Europe is in Trollfjord. We will also go to the tip of Lofoten to photograph the famous villages of Hamnøy & Reine with their brightly coloured red, or yellow, fishermen's huts (we will stay in the huts themselves - they're quite luxurious...). We will also visit the world heritage village at Nusfjord. The trip will give ample opportunity to photograph beautiful landscapes, lakes, mountains and seascapes in deep winter conditions. That, of course, will also mean we get ample chance to catch the Aurora in the most spectacular locations... The beaches near Leknes face north so we will have the best possible locations to photograph the Lights if they grace us with an appearance!
