The Lofoten Islands
15-24 March
(10 days, 9 nights. 7 guests, FULL )
The Lofoten Islands have become one of the most iconic locations for landscape photography in the world, and justifiably so. The landscape is dramatic, haunting & stunningly beautiful. But we will do more than just Lofoten. We will fly to, & have a day in Tromsø, the Arctic capital, to photograph the Arctic Cathedral which echoes the icebergs out at sea. Then on to Senja for 2 days, the island to the north of Lofoten. Senja is a landscape of fjords with mountains like jagged teeth soaring out of the ocean. We will photograph 'The Devil's Teeth' cliffs, and then travel on to the Polar Park to photograph wolves, bears & elk in the snow. The second half of the trip is in Lofoten, split between the town of Leknes where we are close to the incredible beaches of Uttakleiv with its Devil Eye, Flakstad, Haukstad & Unstad (the latter a surfer's paradise, even in winter). Finally we will travel to the southern tip of Lofoten to photograph the famous villages with their red and yellow fishermen's huts at Hamnøy & Reine. We will also visit the world heritage village at Nusfjord. The trip will give ample opportunity to photograph beautiful landscapes, lakes, mountains and seascapes in deep winter conditions. That, of course, will also mean we get ample chance to catch the Aurora in the most spectacular locations...
(There is an option for this trip to just come on the Lofoten section of the tour. Flights would be to Leknes on Lofoten on Tuesday 19th Mar where I would pick you up. 6 days in Lofoten and then return to UK on Sunday 24th Mar)
